With the migration of virtually everything online, more and more businesses resort to online advertising. As a result, there has been a sharp rise in the demand for multimedia software for marketing and advertising. One of the leading multimedia software providers is Adobe.

Adobe is a multimedia software company based in San Jose, California. The company was founded in California in December 1982. Adobe specializes in multimedia applications for the creation of videos, graphics, websites, and the like. As of writing, Adobe has over 50 applications in the market, some of which are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Acrobat DC, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe XD, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Spark.

What it’s for and what it does

One of the primary products of Adobe is Adobe Creative Cloud. It is a set of services and applications from Adobe used for photography, video editing, graphic design, and web development bundled together for ease of use. It also includes mobile applications and an option to use its cloud services.

Adobe Creative Cloud has four basic packages – individuals, businesses, students and teachers, and schools and universities. The applications included in each package depend on the plan chosen by the customer.

The following are some of the most popular applications of Adobe included in Adobe Creative Cloud:

1. Photoshop

Photoshop is probably the most famous application of Adobe. It is a graphics editor developed by John and Thomas Knoll. Photoshop allows for the editing, manipulating, composting, and making of graphics, images, and other art on desktops, laptops, and iPad.

2. Adobe Illustrator

On the other hand, Illustrator is a vector graphics editor and design application. Like Photoshop, Illustrator can be used on desktops, laptops, and iPad.

3. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

Acrobat Pro DC is probably the more widely used application out of all their applications. With Acrobat Pro DC, you can access, create, edit, and even highlight PDFs. The application is available on desktops, laptops, the web, and even mobile.

4. Lightroom

Lightroom is the photo editing application of Adobe. It allows the user to change, manipulate, and adjust the settings of photos.

5. Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro is a video editing application. Premiere Pro is widely used in the film industry.

How does it work?

The Creative Cloud is paid either on a monthly or yearly basis. Upon payment of the subscription fee, the applications can be downloaded from the internet or directly installed on the computer. Use of said applications will be available as long as the subscription is paid and valid.

Pros and Cons

In this Adobe review, we’ve listed down the pros and cons of the product to help you decide.

The Pros

1. The Adobe Creative Cloud offers a free trial period.

You can test the Cloud for a certain period for free to determine if it works for you. From there, you can choose to stick to this package or change to a new one before subscribing. If you decide to subscribe, you have a 14-day money-back guarantee.

2. The basic package of Adobe Creative Cloud is priced reasonably.

The basic photography package of Adobe Creative Cloud is priced at $9.99 monthly. It is also available at a cheaper price of $119.88 if paid on a yearly basis. The all apps plan is $52.99 per month or $599.98 yearly.

3. Upgrades are included in the package.

Like most applications, Adobe software has updates regularly. You no longer need to pay for upgrades as these are included in the subscription. If your plan is still valid, these upgrades are downloadable over the internet.

4. The plan is accessible anywhere.

The plan can be accessed anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet. You also have the option to choose the devices to which the applications are downloaded.

5. Education licenses are available at a cheaper price.

Adobe has a plan for schools and universities that allows them to subscribe on behalf of their students. The licenses are available per device. These plans tend to be cheaper than the regular ones.

The Cons

1. You will lose access to the software if the subscription fee is not paid.

If the subscription fee is not paid or the plan is canceled, the customer will lose access to the software and consequently to the work still in proprietary file formats.

2. Some plans are more expensive in the long run.

Unlike the one-time payment with perpetual licenses, the monthly or yearly payment of a subscription fee can be more expensive in the long run.

3. Pricing can change over time.

The price of the subscription fee can change over time. Moreover, the pricing of the plans is based purely on the whims of Adobe.

Who is the product for?

The product is intended for everyone – students, teachers, businessmen, and professionals who need technical solutions for their digital needs. Most of the applications in the Creative Cloud can be used for digital art needed for marketing, filmmaking, photography, and digital art. Teachers can also make use of the applications to make their visual aids in school. Students would also need Adobe Acrobat Pro to access PDFs.  Businessmen and professionals can use Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator for presentations. There is an application for everyone in the Creative Cloud.
